Sagittarius Constellation
Beta1 Sagittarii
I chose the Sagittarius Constellation (The Centaur/Archer) as my first celestial body because it is my birth sign, as I was born in December. I am absolutely, annoyingly independent, thus, I identify with this star sign a lot.
This constellation was categorized by 2nd-century astronomer Ptolemy with 48 other constellations. It remains one of the 88 modern constellations. This constellation (nicknamed The Teapot for its shape) can be seen by the naked eye.
This star, Beta1 Sagittarii , along with its closely related star, Beta2 Sagittarii are shared between two star systems. The two stars are separated by 0.36o in the sky. Their traditional name is Arkab. Beta1 is often called Arkab Prior since it leads Beta2 across the sky. Prior Arkab is classified as a main sequence dwarf star.Source |
